Christmas Reading: The Smallest Reindeer

Read the story. Then answer the questions.

Pip was the smallest reindeer at the North Pole. The other reindeer were big and strong, and every year they pulled Santa's sleigh. Pip only watched.

"You are too small," they said. "Maybe next year."

On Christmas Eve, a thick fog came down. Santa could not see the houses, and the big reindeer could not see the stars. They walked in circles in the snow.

Then Pip stepped forward. He had the sharpest eyes of all. "I can see the lights of the town!" he called. Santa put Pip at the front of the sleigh, and Pip led them through the fog, house after house, until every present was delivered.

Since that night, nobody says that Pip is too small.
